On Friday, September 24, 2021, the CDC issued the recommendation for Comirnaty Pfizer-BioNTech booster doses for the following populations, at least six months following their second dose of their Pfizer primary series:
People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx
people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx
people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx, based on their individual benefits and risks
people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech Vx, based on their individual benefits and risks.

You may schedule an appointment to receive your COVID-19 vaccine here:
For individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series:
For people who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago. There are now booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines in the United States. Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots. Available data right now show that all three of the COVID-19 vaccines approved or authorized in the United States continue to be highly effective in reducing risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and death, even against the widely circulating Delta variant. Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and reduce the spread of the virus and help prevent new variants from emerging. For more information, go to CDC.gov.

The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine should be deferred for at least 90 days for persons who received passive antibody therapy (monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma) as part of COVID-19 treatment.

While the vaccine is critical to our fight against the virus, we must remain vigilant until the COVID-19 pandemic is over. At no time — before, during or after — receiving a vaccine, should anyone stop taking precautionary measures like masking, physical distancing and handwashing. It will take some time to get enough people vaccinated to loosen these preventative recommendations, but we’ll get there by working together.
Please send any questions to email@example.com. We will respond as quickly as possible.
COVID-19 VACCINE REIMBURSEMENT POLICY:
Please know that River Valley Health & Dental is providing the COVID-19 vaccine free of charge, as the vaccine is provided by the federal government.
Recently, we were able to begin asking for reimbursement for the administration of the vaccine. However, we are not seeking this reimbursement from you, the recipient of the vaccine.
We are seeking a vaccine administration fee from your health plan (private health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid). You will not personally be charged any fee, copay or coinsurance. And uninsured recipients will not be charged, but we may seek reimbursement from the government.
The administrative fee allows us to continue to provide this important service to our community, so like other vaccine providers, we will be asking for insurance information now when anyone comes to us for their vaccination. We will also be contacting others who had previously received their inoculation to seek reimbursement of our costs. Thanks for your help in supporting our efforts.
FDA and CDC Lift Recommended Pause on Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 Vaccine Use Following Thorough Safety Review
On April 23, following a thorough safety review, including two meetings of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the FDA and CDC have determined that the recommended pause regarding the use of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S. should be lifted and use of the vaccine should resume.
Please call us if you or someone you know got the J&J vaccine and you experience any trouble breathing, a severe headache, and/or arm or leg swelling within weeks of receiving it. You should not proactively start to take medication such as aspirin to thwart a blood clot.
Any adverse reaction/experience with a vaccine should be reported to VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) at vaers.hhs.gov or by calling 1 – 800-822-7967 or emailing info@VAERS.org. This system is an important part of the efforts to maintain and ensure the safety of any vaccine.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, seek immediate assistance from a healthcare provider or call 9-1-1. CDC and FDA do not provide individual medical treatment, advice, or diagnosis. If you need individual medical or health care advice, consult a qualified healthcare provider.
